PEER HEALTH EDUCATOR

We are currently recruiting four (4) individuals to help promote sex positive attitudes and healthy sexuality. 

As a Peer Health Educator with the Summer Luvin’ Condom Crew (SLCC), you will assist in the delivery of a safer sex message at summer festivals across Alberta.  SLCC members are required to spend weekends camping at festivals and events and must be comfortable distributing condoms, lube and sexual health information. 

The successful candidate(s) will have a working knowledge of sexual and reproductive health, strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience working with youth and multicultural groups.  Teamwork skills, a non-judgmental attitude and the ability to work in a self-directed environment are essential for the position.

Responsibilities include:
• Prepare and plan sexual health material for festival displays
• Distribute information and resource packages to the public at events
• Provide members of the public with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed choices around issues of       sexuality
• Adapt the festival display to increase educational effectiveness and meet the needs of varying audiences
• Maintain records, statistics, schedules and reports.

Qualifications:
• Sex positive attitude and pro-choice values
• Experience working with youth
• Strong team work skills
• Knowledge of sexual health; practical experience and post-secondary training related to the sexual health field is considered an asset
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to relate to individuals from diverse cultures, gender and sexual orientation and socio-economic backgrounds
• Willing to work weekends and evenings out of town
• A valid driver’s license will be considered an asset
